About

Claudia Schiffer is a German supermodel turned fashion designer.

Claudia was was born August 25, 1970 in Rheinberg, North Rhine-Westphalia. She began modelling in 1987 after being spotted in a nightclub in Düsseldorf, and rapidly rose to become one of the top models in the world.

She has appeared on over 500 magazine covers, on catwalks all around the world and in numerous high-profile advertising campaigns. These include campaigns for Guess? jeans, L'Oreal, Revlon, Dom Perignon, and Chanel. Because she'd never had them done before, her contract for the Autumn/Winter 2006 Accessorize advertising campaign included an unstated additional payment made to cover the need for her to have her ears pierced for the very first time especially to be able to model earrings from that season's range. Her catwalk modelling includes appearances for Versace, Jil Sander, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren and Valentino.[1][2][3] She was also the first model to ever appear on the covers of Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The New York Times and People.

From 1993 until 1999, she was engaged to American magician David Copperfield and sometimes used to appear as a special guest assistant in his stage shows, taking part in a number of illusions including being sawed in half. Since 2002, she has been married to English movie director Matthew Vaughn with whom she has three children, Caspar (born 2003), Clementine (born 2004) and Cosima (born 2010). Matthew Vaughn's real name is Matthew De Vere Drummond and, since their marriage, Claudia has used her married name in private, prefering to be known as Claudia De Vere Drummond.[4] Although they spend much of their time living in Notting Hill, London, where Claudia is often photographed taking her children to school, they also have a large house in Suffolk.

In October 2009, she announced that she was quitting modelling to concentrate on other interests and, in 2010, revealed that she was planning to launch her own clothing line in 2011.
