Dolce and Gabbana is an Italian label that was founded in 1985 in Milan by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.[1] The collection was inspired by Italian actesses Sophia Loren and Anna Magnani.[2]
The pair began their business as a couple, however split in 2005 and carried on their business as friends.[3]
Prior to their fist show in 1985, they formed a fashion consulting business in 1982.[4]
The brand creates womenswear, sunglasses, perfume[5] and a cosmetics line that was launched in April 2009 by brand ambassador, Scarlett Johansson.[6]
The line has become synonymous with celebrity glamour, with clients including models such as Isabella Rossellini and Naomi Campbell.[7]
