About
Independent Fashion Bloggers is probably the only community exclusively for well, independent fashion bloggers. It was founded by Jennine Tamm, a fashion blogger from Germany. Jennine Tamm is also the founder behind the very popular fashion and beauty blog, The Coveted.
Origin & Development
IFB was initially hosted at Google's Blogger as blog and a resource site for fashion bloggers. It was moved to its own domain and hosting, IndependentFashionBloggers.org in July 2008. Jennine also added a forum to the site which helped it evolve more as a community. In early 2009, IFB morphed into a full-fledged social networking site and the blog moved to a new address, HeartIFB.com.
Special Features
IFB has is a very helpful community for fashion bloggers. The weekly feature, Links à la Mode, is a collection of informative and well-edited posts from blogs across the community. Anyone can participate by submitting the link to their best post.
Little Birdie, a useful tool for connecting PR companies and bloggers was also introduced. It has helped many bloggers find quality content and take their blog to the next level. Little Birdie has also helped indie designers and PR companies to find bloggers.
The IFB Dress Up Soireé is an annual event conducted by IFB at the New York Fashion Week. The first soireé was held in 2008. This is another initiative by IFB to give fashion bloggers an opportunity to meet and know each other.
