About
KIMBO was founded in 2006 by American designer and graffiti artist, Kimbo Mesches as a shoe customization service. After painting a pair of his own shoes with a custom design and receiving positive feedback from his peers, Mesches launched a business of creating KIMBO:CUSTOMS for a wide client base.[1] Mesches's signature graffiti designs have appeared on hats, accessories and shoes for celebrities, including Lupe Fiasco, DJ Pauly D, Angelina Pivnarick, Lamar Odom, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Tech N9ne.[2]
KIMBO designs have been featured in a collection of Access Bag N' Pack backpacks, available at Staples stores nationwide.[3]
Mesches eventually expanded into womenswear design, following his stint as an associate designer with Anne Bowen. The KIMBO:COLLECTION features graphic prints, unique fabric treatments, asymmetrical draping and edgy silhouettes.[4]
