Karen Ko (born July 15, 1982) is an American jewelry designer.
Early Life and Education
Ko grew up in Hawaii, where her parents owned a fine jewelry store, which sparked her initial interest in jewelry. Ko began designing her own jewelry as a hobby when she was a teenager. [1]
Ko moved to New York City in 2000 to study finance at Columbia. After just a few years of working as a private placement investment analyst, Ko left her job to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she earned a jewelry design degree. [2]

Career
After graduating from FIT, Ko founded her jewelry company, Intersect Designs. In 2010, Ko started the jewelry brand, k2o by Karen Ko, a collection of high-end statement jewelry that blurs the lines between glamor and danger. [4]
Ko also designs high-end, limited edition jewelry under the Karen Ko Limited and Karen Ko Collection labels, both of which are Intersect Designs brands. [5]
In 2011, Ko launched [Modern Mix], the online boutique dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge emerging jewelry designers. [6] k2o by Karen Ko pieces are currently available for purchase at Modern Mix.
Ko is currently working on launching another e-commerce platform, Gilded Vault, and her men's jewelry brand, KO. [7][8]
