Lanvin is a french fashion house, founded by Jeanne Lanvin.
Jeanne Lanvin became a designer after people had seen the dresses she made for her daughter and requested the same ones for themselves. Over the years she added a Haute Couture and menswear line, as well as decoration and perfume to the label.
When Lanvin died in 1946, her daughter took over the company and led it until her death in 1958. After this the company had various owners, among which were L'Oréal and Orcofi (the French holding company led by the Vuitton family). Since 2001 Lanvin is an independent company. The same year Alber Elbaz was named creative director. In 2010 Elbaz designed a collection for the Swedish fashion retailer h&m with the name Lanvin ♥ h&m.
