About
Parsons The New School for Design, or Parsons for short, is located on New York's fifth avenue [1], in the city's fashion district. [2] [3] The school was founded in 1896 as the Chase School. [4] It caters for students in fashion, design, media, film and architecture.
Each year the school holds the Parsons Fashion Benefit, which shows the graduating class' collections. [5]
Courses
In 1904 the first program in fashion design was introduced. [6]
In 2010 the school will be introducing two new streams- a Masters in Fashion Design and Society, with the collaboration of Donna Karan, and a Masters in Fashion Studies. [7]
Former students
Former students of Parsons include, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu [8] Anna Sui, Steven Meisel, Donna Karan, Thakoon and Narciso Rodriguez. [9][10]
