Chanel 2.55

In the early 1920s, Coco Chanel became frustrated with having to carry her handbags in her arms. Coco then decided to create a handbag that allowed her to use her arms freely. The Chanel 2.55 was inspired by straps found on the soldier's bags during the war. She then altered the design by adding thin straps to the bag and introducing it to the market in 1929. After her successful comeback to the fashion industry Coco Chanel updated the bag for modern women. The bag was named after its created date, February 1955.

Fashion's Night Out is a global initiative, sponsored by Vogue and the CFDA. The first event began in 2009, it was held in New York. In 2010 the event will be held in Australia, Brazil, China, London, Paris, Berlin, Greece, India, Milan, Portugal, Russia, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey. It is thought that Karl Lagerfeld will be attending the Fashion's Night Out event in New York as well as New York Fashion Week.
