Having graduated from the Whitehouse School of Design in Sydney in 1992, YEOJIN BAE went to work for leading Australian designer Jodie Boffa. Following several years of experience, Yeojin went to New York to further her design experience through internships with Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui and Robert Danes.
Back in Australia in 1996, Yeojin took up work with Marcs followed by Charlie Brown. As a senior designer at Charlie Brown, Yeojin broadened her design skills over five brands including Charlie Brown, Princess Charlotte and Lili.
In 2002 Yeojin was approached by Daniel Besen to head up SABA women’s wear based in Melbourne, and bring her own personal style to the brand. Over six collections she flourished, delivering dramatic growth across all aspects of the business.
In 2006 Yeojin Bae launched her self-titled label. The debut collection “Sweet Seduction” instantly garnered orders from prestigious international stores including Barney’s. Myer soon followed with Head of Women’s Wear Apparel, Mark Bingemann writing an order on the spot upon viewing the collection.
Recently unveiling a remarkable second summer collection, Yeojin Bae has been received to high acclaim by both buyers and fashion stylists locally and abroad. Her appeal lies in her philosophy, which merges natural beauty with whimsical detailing to create dresses for the free spirited, modern day girl.
Her passion for vintage prints, and intricate trims have signalled a point of difference in the competitive women’s wear market, and her strong eye for colour and ranging has delivered consistent and innovative ranges.
Established from a love of travelling, Yeojin holds a network of vintage print dealers in Europe and the US, as well as scouring markets as far away as Budapest, Marrakesh and Asia. She has built long lasting relationships with artisans in Asia who are able to recreate age old hand made techniques. This becomes the backbone of inspiration for her work. Her international experience and sophisticated personal style marks her as one of Australia’s most exciting designers. With over thirteen years experience in women’s wear Yeojin is now launching her own label.
